I had become very discouraged with my inability to coninue with my daily walking. It seemed I was constantly battling a new injury! I did not realize how weak and inflexible I had become. Unsure what to do about it a friend recommended yoga. My hope has been resotred! Thank you. E.K., Beginner |
Next Class Session: January 3rd for intermediate classes, 2012 Winter schedule starts on January 3rd and goes through week of March 2nd, 2012. Classes offered in Winter session are: Monday Beginner class 6:00-7:30 PM, 1/9-2/27, John Tuesday Intermediate class 10:00-11:30 AM-Chris, Tuesday Intermediate class 5:30-7:00 PM-Sue Wednesday Intermediate Vinyasa class 6:30-8:00-John Thursday Self-Awakening Yoga (SAY) class-10:00-11:30 AM-John The fee for Intermediate is $96. The fee for beginner class is $96 The fee for SAY class is $96 Self-Awakening Yoga is for students with some yoga experience. Please see studio update below for more information about Self-Awakening yoga Vacation discount for weeks that you know you will be absent. We will be offering 6 month and 12 month memberships again in 2012 for those students who like the convenience of one registration,one check along with a discount in per class rate. Six month fee is $230 and the twelve month fee is $440 for present members and $240 and $450 for new members. TOO BUSY THIS SESSION? The next session for Beginners is planned for the September 2012. Advanced students may start classes at any time. Email Sue or call her at 715-650-1008 for more information. Students who have completed Beginners Plus may enroll in the Intermediate class. There is a 20% discount if enrolled in more than one class. Drop-in for non-registered students/guests is $15. You may apply this fee to the session cost should you decide to continue and there is an opening. STAGGERED WORK SCHEDULE? You may make up any missed classes in a class at your level or below. Please notify the teacher if possible. Vacation plans? Deduct class fees for weeks that you can not make class. CAN'T SIGN UP FOR A CLASS? Do you have special needs? Private sessions are available with Sue, Chris or John for any level of student. TO REGISTER: New students or returning students go to Registration and download the Registration Form and send to Sue with your fee prior to the first class session. Beginners classes do fill to capacity.You may hold your place in an upcoming class with a $25.deposit. You will then pay the balance the first day of class. Continuing students obtain registration forms at the studio or in the newsletter. All classes have a minimum number of students required to enroll. The earlier you register the more likely your class will be held. If you know you will be on vacation, write on your form which classes you will attend and pay only for those. All new students are required to have a signed Registration Form by the first class. Students under 18 also need a signed Parental Permission Form. If you are under 18, please contact me for this form prior to the first class. Class space cannot be reserved without payment. We do not confirm class registrations. You will be contacted only if the class you request is already full or not running. LATE REGISTRATION is permitted for the first 2 weeks. Late registrations are not accepted after that time except for experienced students.Late starters pay a prorated fee. STUDIO UPDATE FIRST STEPS TO FLEXIBILITY-YOGA WITH KARUNA MA AND BALARAM Our first instructional DVD is now available at the studio or by mail order. This DVD leads you in a full 30 minute practice with warm-ups, posture flow and relaxation. Plus a 25 minute in depth explanation of all the postures used in the flow to help in learning and refining the yoga postures.Appropriate for both beginning and experienced students. Self-Awakening Yoga Consists of open-ended movement inquiries that provide you access to the “wisdom being” of your body from the inside. Class will consist of warm-ups with centering and breathing instruction, conditioning movements to energize core strength and increase flexibility, movement inquiries in a relaxed state., free movement time and relaxation. Observing and interacting with what is present in your body and communicating at the level of sensation facilitates Integration or alignment of the self in the here and now. The sequence of movement inquiries included in SAY reveal fundamental insights into issues of structural alignment, mobility, body segment differentiation, and core strength. Observing the nuances hidden within your unconscious body habits can provide practical avenues into greater freedom of movement. Combining SAY with your familiar yoga practice can open a whole new dimension to your yoga practice. FAQ’s Self-Awakening Yoga (SAY) Who should attend SAY class? • Individuals interesting in developing improved body awareness through sensation driven movement • Should be able to get up and down from a standing position. • Previous experience in Yoga is necessary. • Combining SAY with your familiar yoga practice can open a whole new dimension to one’s practice. How much will class cost and what equipment do I need? • $96 and $75 for Karuna yoga students enrolled in another winter session class • Bring your mat if you have one, otherwise nothing more is needed. Wear loose fitting clothes that provide freedom of movement. When is class? • Thursday 10-11:30 AM. • 1/05-3/08 No classes 1/12,2/02. Beginner class with John starting January 9th, Monday 6:00-7:30 PM and continuing through February 27th. Return to yoga this winter. Karuna Yoga offers classes on Tuesday morning and evening and Wednesday evenings for students with yoga experience. Please be aware of the following policies to keep the building in tiptop shape. No street shoes in the yoga room. Please remove shoes in the coat room. If you need to wear shoes to do yoga, bring a pair that have not walked on gravel or have soiled soles. Only water is allowed in the yoga room in a closed bottle. No flame candles are allowed in the building. Thank you. DIRECTIONS: Come to the intersection of McMillan and Lincoln just south of Hwy 13 and the viaduct. Turn West on McMillan and go down to the 5th house on your left, fire number 9977. You will see KARUNA YOGA letters on the mailbox. Turn left. Please note that our driveway is a single lane without a shoulder. Those on McMillan are asked to yield to any cars that are coming north out of the driveway. When the driveway is clear, pull in and turn left into the lot just behind the studio building. Please park on the East and West sides of the lot first, then the south. You may park against the building only if necessary. DO NOT park in the middle of the parking lot. Cars exiting the lot are asked to yield to any cars entering and coming South on the driveway. Registration: Please register as soon as you can. It is a huge help to me, the registrar, if you are able to send your completed registration along with your check by mail to 9977 W McMillan St,Marshfield before coming to the first class. Beginning students need to include a completed registration form. At this time there are still openings in all classes, however I anticipate that they will fill. Continuing students have priority over new students if they register for their class with payment before the class starts.
